I'm reading Demons right now, it is fascinating. I am particularly interested in Pyotr Stepanovich. Could anyone tell me what his motives are in book I, and who by this point really understands him and them?

I, what a surprise (...), found Pyotr Stepanovich also particularly interesting .. alongside with Nikolaj, ofcourse.

I'd like to know what you find fascinating about the book ...
i'm very eager to hear other people's thoughts about it..

You ask difficult questions.  I rather not answer them, in fear of spoiling things for you.
You'll see ... read on, beautiful things are awaiting you. Smiley

I'm now on page 582.

I'm doing a 'study' on the most significant characters in Book I for an essay. Pyotr Stepanovich is a character that is particularly intriguing and I am eager to hear other people's thoughts on him.

Google is the smartest man I know.  Ask him anything and he has dozens of answers.  Try it.   Wink

Are you telling me Google, the website, is actually a person?
Explain that to me.
The Dostojewkian literature that you have been reading must have bent your head.

I've searched so much for sites on Dostojewski, and i've found so little ... with Google, Altavista (is that a site or a person?) and Yahoo.

In the English language, the most common spelling of his name is 'Dostoevsky'.  Another common spelling (less frequent, though) is 'Dostoyevsky'.  If you do searches using these spellings, you'll find many more sites on ol' Fyodor.

I used to spell it Dostoyevsky, but now, after being on this site for long enough, I spell it Dostoevsky.
