I just noticed that yesterday there were 18 visitors on this forum at once (mostly guests).  Are there really that many lurkers out there?  Hmmmm?  Grin

A little eerie... but I guess it is a "forum" rather than a private meeting Smiley. Fyodor, is it possible to poll those people who just float through? It would be interesting to know what kind of visitors we have, what is the nature of their interest, what they're looking for, etc.

Hmmmm, I think that's what they call 'Spyware'.  Wink

That's okay if they lurk - I don't have a problem with that.  I lurk at various boards, too.  heh heh.

Cheesy -- Not quite what I had in mind! Just a poll that people don't have to register to take... for fun or whatever. But nothing annoying. It would just be interesting to see if most of us are students or what. Ah, I don't know... it sounded very good when it originally came to mind Undecided.

That would be pretty cool, Lev.  However, this software allows me to turn guest posting either on or off.  So, can't really do that, I guess...unless axon has 4 hours of custom PHP programming he'd like to spare?  Wink  j/k axon!

Maybe we can make some sort of deal with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Lev.  Have them install spycams in their homes, surveillance day&night, looking through their garbage, tapping their phones .. let's see what kind of people visit this place.

Srsly, it can be interesting to know about what kind of people visit this place.  Heck, people in general are just interesting as hell.  We're dosto-fans, we are interested in people.  His works only go about people.

18 visitors at once .. that's a lot of weenies hiding behind the screen, not daring to make a post.  As if it is that hard, or as if they are 'unworthy'.

What have I gotten myself into! It's not as if I hadn't floated through a couple of times before I registered, you know? By suggesting an optional poll (which I now un-suggest obviously) am I really trampling on people's rights to any extent? My only fault here is ignorance (of anything to do with websites) and curiosity. But you're joking with me aren't you? Huh

I was just teasing you, ofcourse, Lev.  *pinch*

Calling the FBI was a joke.
Jesus, you can't [ Wink iamsilly Wink ] read a simple post  .. reading all of that Dostojewski has made you search something behind everything and interpret everything in radically different ways. Smiley

I wonder what you are going to make of this post. Smiley

Interesting. Well, I prefer a wink to a pinch I think. But yes, smileys are the key my friend Smiley. Sometimes these things are just cultural, but mostly the lack of a face or voice to refer to is enough. You know, it might also be useful to avoid language that requires asterisks. That is still "not-so-genteel" culturally, at least where I live. Just as a sign of respect for other people I guess. Smiley

Srecka, which selections of these short stories did you like the best?  Admittedly, I haven't read half of them but would like to soon.
