Q: Who are the best Dostoevsky translators?

A:
I would recommend Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky, they stick to Dostoevsky's original Russian much better than Constance Garnett does.
Garnett tries to "translate" Dostoevsky's style... meaning she takes more freedom with D's texts.  I don't trust her much to translate such a complicated style, so I'm content with Pevear and Volokhonsky.

But it is up to you, Constance is easier to read but you don't really know how much of her translation was D's and how much of it was her interpretation.  Pevear and Volokhonsky do less interpreting and more of a word for word...

I rose, went forth, and followed Thee." -Charles Wesley
