Has anyone else read this? What do you think the crime of Cincinattus is (his gnostical turpitude which defies definition)? Is it an allusion to all instances of society rejecting those who are different? That's what I took from the crime (though his was I believe thinking in a unique and independent manner, transcending the mundane)...
It may not be Nabokov's best work, but it has some of his most interesting ideas and is definitely a fantastic and intriguing story...
What do you think? What did you take from it?

So, I guess no one has read this.. haha.. It is kind of a lesser known work of his, one of his earlier ones before he moved to America.. Well, in that case I reccommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who has a spare couple hours as it is quite short (only about 120 pages)..

Has it ever happened to you that all of a sudden and for no reason at all you haven't the faintest idea how to spell the word - "wife" - or "house" - because when you write it down you just can't remember ever having seen those letters in that order before..?

I don't have the novel in front of me anymore, but I believe the crime was written about as being "unclear" or something of that nature.  I took it to mean being withdrawn or secretive,  being independent of the group mentality.
