Pity the poor agnostic dyslexic insomniac. He stays up all night wondering if there is a dog. Wink

I'll tell you in a new thread I've actually been dying to make  ( http://www.fyodordostoevsky.com/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=68 )...  I just want to keep this thread on topic.. which means I should include some piece of personaly information in this post:
My favorite color is Orange, but I only like it in small doses... give me too much orange and I find it obnoxious.

I found the site while just searching for sites on Dostojewski.

Age: 23
Sex: Masculin
Location: Belgium, Antwerp
Job: factory worker
Hobbies: reading, photography, painting, fluteplayer (2nd year), writing & thinking.
Sports: my work is my sport.  I also bike everyday an hour and a half from and to work.
Music: classical, metal (Slipknot, Marilyn Manson), german industrial (:Wumpscut:), Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morrissette .. and my own flute, ofcourse.

Favorite Dostojewski work: The Adolescent.
Religion: In theory, Catholic.  I'm not very fond of talking about religion.
Status: unmarried, single.  I live in a small studio, that i've bought myself in the beginning of this year.  I take care of myself.
Interests: too much to sum up.  Basically, everything.  Every few days i just open my encyclopedia at a random page and start reading what intrigues me .. at every page there is usually something that honestly captures my attention.
A few thoughts:
- I don't know what to do with my life, and the clock is ticking.  Help.
- I am quite a calm guy.  Some people have told me that i'm a dangerous person, though ...
I'm smart, largehearted (how many people that i've made laugh enormously hard, i can't recall, it's too much), try to be strong .. and just try to do my best to get through the various waves that flap in my face during the Great Swim through the ocean of life ... which i question everyday of my life lately.  I hope i'll get at a good shore someday.

Age: Grin -- somewhat young.
Sex: F
Location: Texas, US -- nothing remotely to do with cowboys or westerns!

Job: Student: I have a lot to learn yet, but I enjoy history, philosophy, theology, literature, political theory, art, music, etc. -- student of all, master of none, really Smiley. I like picking up on other people's ideas (books included) and determining what I agree with or disagree with and why.

Hobbies: Reading, classical guitar, gardening (lately anyway), extra studies (whatever interests me at the time), classical music (not exclusively but mostly) -- and slowly building up a personal library (now that's a hobby).

Sports: heh heh... not really. I like being outside but no organized sports for me.

Favorite Dost. work: Depends on which one I'm reading (I temporarily forget how wonderful the last few were) -- but I'm thinking I do really like TBK most -- I think. I like what somebody said about it all being one long book. At the same time, I haven't read them all so I am not sure. I'd love to explain exactly why I am drawn to his works so much but I'm not sure I know! Can't you appreciate genius without understanding it completely? Genius is practically an atmosphere Grin. I'm trying to pin down the things I like, though.

Religion: Christianity -- I don't officially associate with any religious group -- just the basic text  Smiley. Though a bit ecclectic, I turn out quite "orthodox" in major things, though I'm open to anything that can be proven. I enjoy talking or writing about it, or anything else for that matter (it helps me formulate what I really think). Some of the answers to this one were funny -- Golyadkin, my dear fellow Texan, you're complaining about Ivan but how can you be a "non-practicing" Buddhist? Don't they cancel eachother out? Cheesy I could be wrong but it does sound funny! Wink

Other things: I think I write too long (emails, posts, everything) -- I suspect I am not quite normal (Dostoyevsky makes me think I might be though Grin) -- and... I like too many things so I am not very specialized. Thus, I am almost aimless. The word that means everything generally, means nothing exactly... Yet I do atleast have a general direction Grin, if that's any comfort.

Earth:
What is "Dragonboating"?

Dragonboating is a sport where you have 22 people in a long boat called a dragon boat.  10 on the left and 10 on the right paddling.  A coxswain at the back and a drummer at the front.  It's amazing and extremely fun.

Were I in Belgium I'd see if you want to go out for beers you have a lot of the same interests as me.

:Wumpscut: is awesome although I haven't heard much of Rudy's new stuff.  Wreath of Thorns was my last pickup.  I'm a huge fan of Embryodead.

Let me throw out a bunch of industrial bands:

Leaetherstrip
Haujobb
Forma Tadre
Covenant
Die Krupps

Oh and hey everyone I've been working a lot lately so haven't been around but I have been lurking Wink
