Bienvenidos, Siegfried_Princess.

Ciudad Juarez is nice.  The desert there is very starkly beautiful, the hills like giant stones.  I once thought of living in this area.  I like to go to El Chuco (El Paso) and we would walk across the bridge to Juarez and buy pottery.

We used to fly down into the interior of Chihuahua for medical missions to the Tarahumara area in the Sierra Madre.  We could see the desert where they filmed a lot of Star Wars.  We flew out of El Paso to places like Sisoguichic, Babicora, Juan Mendoza, etc.  Once we had to drive back because of weather, so we went through Chihuahua city and out to Ciudiad Juarez and El Paso.  Best Mexican food in the world in that little area.  It is there that I came to love carne asada.

come to Mexico to visit Cancun and the South, as we do not have the same promotion as those places... oh well,
really glad you enjoyed here  Grin

P.S Did you ever tried burritos in here? best burritos in the world, as they were created here in Juárez

Sorry I didn't see you had replied sooner.

I think I focused on enchiladas, chile verde and chile colorado when I was in Juarez.  I will be sure to try the burritos.

One thing I remember is the old church from the colonial period--I think it was 400 years old.  Not much north of the border goes back that far.

hehe... some friends of mine are accusing me of self-hatred because I don't support "our" national soccer team. But how is it possible to  support a team that sucks? As for my faith, I grew up as the son of a protestant clergyman. Thank God  Wink he never forced me to do this and believe that.

Age: 20
Sex: M
Location: Brighton, UK (i'm portuguese-brazilian though)

Job: Student and independent film-maker/musician.

Hobbies: Music, Film-making&Photography, Writing, Literature, Chess, Philology, Psychology, Political and Social Sciences, Theories, etc..

Sports: Haven't played anything since I was 14.

Fav. Dostoevsky work: "Notes from Underground", not so much for the book itself but the impact it had on me, and also because it was the first novel by Dostoevsky I read. I got the worst translation for it, but it was worth the struggle. I've read other translations by now.

Religion: An inclination to believe in the existence of God. But no religion, no church.

Misc.: Lev, I think I will make of yours words my own...sorry...But i'm also fond of too many things, and I don't even like the idea of being specialized, I don't like definitions, and I find it difficult to define myself "by what I do". After all these years, I've come to understand it rather well.  Smiley

Gee, Germany suck? come on..  they CAN play, and they DO.. unlike Russia .. i always wondered how in such a huge country, where everyone adores football there is no national team that can play!

There was even a joke here:

Question - how is it possible for Russia to win Euro 2004?
Answer - thre are actually two ways for it to happen: one realistic and another fantastic.
Realistic - aliens will come and help us. Fantastic - we'll win on our own. : ))

bar babble in this post:

I've ran into some Russians the past weekend while going out, by the way!
A friend and I were walking drunk through the streets around 8 saturdaymorning, and i saw some people with a videocamera.  I hopped in view and made a short speech about Belgium.  My friend walked on, because he had to get to his work.  It turned out the people were Russians .. they could talk English.  There were three of them, a couple around their forties and a son about 18.  I spoke of my love for the old Russian authors, they knew them .. we shook hands.  Their English was shabby .. they didn't say much.
I said i'd want to travel to Russia someday, but didn't know how to do it.  The guy said i should fly ... this gave me a spark in my head, and i started yelling 'I can fly, i can fly', on and on, and hopped up and down, while i flapped with my arms .. the guy taped it all, he loved it, i think.
He gave me his card .. the number didn't work, and there is some Russian babble on it (can someone translate it??! PM me!).  I still have it.
I then noticed how far away my friend already was, said g'bye to the Russians, and ran after my friend.

I'd like to have what he taped .. but i can't figure out the card..
