I wouldn't go so far as to say they were meaningless. Occasionally difficult to understand, yes, but not meaningless. I believe the intent is to keep posts comprehensible, and sometimes the best way to do this is to put a certain amount of space between each statement, and to keep those statements short.

Though I must say that I felt this comment:

Yeah that's the quote from Childe Harold that made me post the rules on the other link. It has also something to do with Mogwai's recent comments to Harold on the Nieztsche link as well, I assume. It's nice to know what his intentions are. Although he will not be the first athiest who believes us mentally ill believers need to be sent to the gulag or take a bullet to the head.

I completely expected you to say- No I do not agree that believers should be shot in the head let alone belong in gulags. There is nothing funny in your comments. So I find it hard to see how people could see you as kidding or just joking.
