I just wanted to say hello quick to everyone here. I've been reading stuff on the board the past month. Great stuff!

I'm at Nebraska Christian majoring in Christian Thought and Humanities...a new program with a large focus on literature. One of the first classes in the program is simply titled "Dostoevsky".  Cool

So far we've read Devils and Dream of a Ridiculous Man and a lot of biographical background on Fydor. We just started TBK this week. The major project for the class is an essay of our own choice over some theme/element of his works. This board has given me plenty of ideas.

So thanks! I look forward to reading more posts and joining the conversation.

Wow - that's really cool.  I would have loved to be given three credits for reading and discussing Dostoevsky in college.  Smiley

it's always a pleasure to deliver ideas to people who study literature in a school

perhaps your teachers are interested to scoop around the board.. this is, after all, the only Fyodor Dostoevsky forum on the world wide web.  I'm curious how they feel about a thing like this... and how they regard the level of discussion 'round here.  I'm curious how many levels *down* it is from their own level!

Hey! I haven't had much time to comment since my arrival post. I've been busy....reading, of course.  Grin

I have a month to go before handing in my paper. I haven't figured out what specifically the subject will be. I have plenty of notes and material to use though - so no sweat.

I told my professor about the site, and the other students in the class. I'm not aware if they have checked it out yet. The class itself is great. There's only three of us in the class, and the professor knows his stuff. So each session is full of great discussion - and the one on one atmosphere really pushes each of us to read and come prepared...otherwise you look like an idiot. No hiding in this class by letting others carry the conversation.  Grin

If you chose the topic 'images of children in TBK" I can give you some help because that was the title of my extended essay in IB
