Happy birthday to you, Pushkin.

Let's throw a Pushkin-Party!  Let's get together somewhere, and lose ourselves in his poetry and get real drunk, and go deep into the night!  Yeah!!

Pushkin is my second favorite, next to Dostoevsky. Thanks to him, I'm trying to relearn reading in russian. http://www.lib.ru is the best place to go, if you want to read anything in russian.

I have worked myself through Onegin with much effort, but thought it absolutely worth my while! They say though that not reading it in Russian means losing out on language treasures, but since I cannot read Russian I wouldn't know. The movie that was made of it with Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler disappointed a bit, mostly because for me Fiennes, though an excellent actor dídn't have the face for it and with Tyler it was the other way around.

Since the poetry takes so much effort, it was the only poetry I read of him. The Queen of Spades, The Captain's Daughter, The Tales of Belkin and the unfinished ones of Dubrovsy, Roslavlev and a few more I have all enjoyed very much too.

I've only read "The Queen of Spades" and "Eugene Onegin," but I love them and quote "Onegin" all the time. "He sang of lifetime's yellowed page/ When not quite eighteen years of age..."

How can you beat that?

Pushkin is great.I suggest that you read "Short stories of Belkin"(sorry,not sure of the actual translation) and his poetry.If you can get them,try reading his letters,they are very interesting.And I am giving you 2 links to the photos of Pushkin's statue in Moscow.This statue is a symbol of Moscow and the square  is a very popular place for dates.On Pushkin's birthaday,people go to read his poems there and put flowers.

 Russian comedy club! The American spy! They speak broken Russian/English through out the video and reading Alekz under SerguaEVILuaiach Pussy can!!! Hillarious, a must watch for English speaking. I didn't laugh that hard for a long time!
