Since the other question thread was kind-of "busy", here are my questions?

1.I've never used YeBBse...does it have a quick reply option? If not, I'm pretty sure it is trivial to code...it would be a great and usefull feature.

2. How come you don't allowe uploads? you could limit it to a certain space size...or maybe a limit.

3. Why do you have the guest posting option open?

Yabb SE is open source forum software I've used for the last few years.  However, they just changed their name to 'Simple Machines' and their website is now at http://www.simplemachines.org.  The forum software is FREE and only requires a PHP compatible web server along with one MySQL database account.  Not sure if the 'Quick Reply' is an option or if you can mod the the software....if you're really good with PHP, you probably can....

I didn't realize I had this option turned off....I'll look into this and see if I can enable it in the admin section.  What did you want to upload?

3. Why do you have the guest posting option open?

I have the guest posting option available to help generate more discussion.  In December and January (when this site became 'live'), this forum was empty since it was brand new.  So, I left the guest posting option on.  Now that we're getting more discussions with more members, I might turn guest posting off soon...

Let me know if you have any other questions, axon.  Cool  Thanks for being here - your posts have been most welcome.

>>quick reply

I know that smf has a quick reply option already built in, but you have to turn it on user to user...Sad I have no idea why they did that.

>>What did you want to upload?
Well, for example those book illustrations I had to link to on the other board...it woul be much easier just to upload them to this server. And BTW, there should be an option where you disable all uploads/attachments after X days.

I might upgrade this board to Simple Machines and I might not...we'll see.

I think the reason why you were limited in your attachments before was that the max was set to 100k.  I bumped this up to 300k.  As long as it is under 300k, I believe you can put in as many attachments as necessary...correct me if I'm wrong.

So, axon, you're familiar with the Simple Machines Forum software?  Have you set one up before?

I've played around with it...but just like yaBBse, I don't like the formatting and the admin options too much. It is much better than phpBB though, and you have actually picked a really nice theme.

I prefer VB, and we have just upgraded the software on a forum that I am a lead mod at to 3.0 - it has reallynice features on the admin/mod side, especially for security issues. Even though VB is not free, it is the best IMO.
