I am doing a presentation on Notes as part of a series of student presentations on short fiction. Are there any passages that people find particularly pertinent to their understanding of Notes?

I would focus some of your attention on chapter three, regarding the "mouse and bull theory"

It really depends on which part of the novel you want to focus, imo - the first and second part are very different.

If talking about the first part, i would just take the very first chapter.  It sketches the situation of that part very well, so it's pertinent to its understanding.

If talking about the second part, i would take, either, the part where he meets up with his 'friends', or, the last part, with the 'we're starting to regard it as a burden to be human' part in it.

i still like to read the notes very much, it's an amazing piece (despite its darkness)
