I have now read Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov, so I have a relative understanding of the value of a kopeck and a rouble, but could anyone give a specific answer to about how much a rouble or a kopeck from Dostoevsky's works would be worth in US dollars today?  Or maybe what a days wages would have been in roubles back in the time of these books?

if you're talking about the "rouble", in the way of, value of money,
here you go!

if you're talking about the "rouble", in the way of, the value of the people,
then i'm not sure what the value is... perhaps 3.7 on a scale of ...  10.... perhaps 4.5 ... 4.9 ... ? ....

I'd like to know how much a rouble/kopeck in Dostoevsky's times is worth in today's US dollars.

1 ruble in 1850 was worth around 60 US cents 1850, which is equal to around $20 in modern currency.

Method: 1 ruble during this time period was worth approximately .03 grammes of gold, which in 1850 US currency was about 60 cents. Adjusted for inflation, this equals $20 today.
