well i dont realy have a problem with rushian names since my language is neer rushian (not so much but still)
for ex. Dmitry in our language is Dimitar
anyway i like the rushian verson better
oh and we have alyosha and so on...
but as i said rushian version is better, i like the way they have Dmitry F. Karamazov they have middle name from their fathers, we dont have that  
 

i agree about smed beeing a jerk and that dmitry and ivan beeing guilty on some level, but I can not understand alyosha guilt. It's in alyosha's character that he can think that he is guilty too along with his brothers so he can suffer and only trought suffering he can redeem himself, but i still don't think he is guilty of anything. he is kind of naive and how could he had known?
i reed that dost. planed to write another book and this one should be about Alyosha, and that is why TBK is not finished, and the end is not clear. but he dies.
who knows what else could of happened in the next book, even Dost. himself said that the second book is of more importance that the first one.

Ive read TBK, C&P, TI only once
and now reading The double
after that planing to rereed TBK

I  did know about the sequel, and Its a shame that D. didnt get to write it  

so many things are left and unfinished.

and as for `the overcoat` from gogolj, i think i have already read it, im not shure couse in my language is `shinela`   and im not sure is the same. does the main character in `the overcoat` dies in the end?
