Les Miserable is quite an undertaking, but it amazing how fast it reads, i could not put it down!  I really did enjoy the book over the musical, granted that it is the perfect story for such.  Is hunchback really that much better?? ive been putting off reading it for awhile now...
4  Fyodor Dostoevsky / Dostoevsky's Minor Works / Re:White nights on: September 24, 2007, 03:24:53 AM
This is as of last week my favorite short story.  It is beautiful, every single word.  Are there ties between this and NFTU, i think i see a few, maybe a nod to the prostitute?
ahhhh but it contrasts it really well too.... hmm d- you do escape me.
5  Fyodor Dostoevsky / Dostoevsky Students / Re:Dostoevsky Writing Style on: September 24, 2007, 03:08:30 AM
From what i have read of D- ... I think his true style comes through in NFTU His style in itself is a statement, its almost as if it is D- versus  himself as he writes.  He reliably makes a point, digresses around an apposing argument, then formulates a new point from this digression, all the while making fun of himself for digressing in the first place.  It is a constant battle for control, almost venting insanity to remain sane.... Which really was a focus of NFTU. He also seems embarrassed of his own statements, and i wonder if this is, by design, a  comment on his own vanity??? Could he be intrinsically satisfying his own work?

PLEASE!!!Call me out  if i'm reading to much into this
6  Fyodor Dostoevsky / Dostoevsky Students / dualism on: September 24, 2007, 02:39:01 AM
I am very intrigued by Dostoevsky, his commentary on vanity, and necessary defiance of our own psyche in "Notes from the Underground" was breathtaking.  Maybe i am just stumbling over somebodies concrete idea, but i see a real connection between dostoevsky, and dualism / transcendentalism? Please feel free to call me an idiot if this is common knowledge.  I mean with the idea of 2+2=5, logic is 4 but, uninhibited energy, change only for the sake of choice is 5.  And in a way it restores balance to a persons life, seeing the perils of logic, while being illogical.
I just did a paper on dualism and transcendentalism exhibited in A song by King Crimson called "Cadence and Cascade" and a poem by Aphra Behn "On the Loving of Two Equally", and the same arguments i used could be applied to anything really but at the same time they hold especially true with 2+2=5
PLEASE HELP Huh
