The Gaze in The Double

hi, first off, wonderful site.

second, i take a russian lit class at Buffalo State College and need to have a paper finished by monday, which of course, i havent even started. I have to choose between the double and fathers and sons, so i chose the double, being that i liked it a lot better.

to get down to biz-

1. i was thinking about doing the paper on the gaze of society, particularly from the upperclassmen in this book and how it can cause someone to go crazy, or create a double. i was going to compare it to today's hollywood ran media and teenage drool fest.

2. knowing the topic, can anyone think of any certain parts in the book where its relevant? all i can really think of is the part where the shine of the boots almost blinds him.
